Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that breaks conventional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized release, "An unusual confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of forbidden rituals and fearsome transformations resonate through the shadows." The narrative features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden group.
The questline focuses on "peculiar trials and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Changes
The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Bonus Content
Players who accomplish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside multiple items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Addition
This update also introduces the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
